4 Walls

Artwork by Mizuki Hosokawa

As I rise from the sheets that have engulfed me,

I am quickly met by the harshest waters which isn’t close to being the sea

As I rush back to the winters enclosed with 4 walls,

Carefully I walk, as I have stumbled and fall–

I crack open my classroom, in the comfort of my home

I await the clock striking 3, I savor the time of me being alone.

A tiger’s roar then bellows and bears its claws, the noise of familiarity washes over my whole body.

As the day continues to unfold,

Unravels many more stories that are as valuable as gold.

I open my eyes and ears to the questions that have been answered,

Here I finally profess and witness-

That I can finally taste knowledge’s sickening sweetness.
