September 20, 2024, Southville International School and Colleges’ (SISC) Basic Education staffers–consisting of teachers, administrators, non-teaching employees, and Student Council members–hosted their annual Grade 12 Coffee Chat, a parent-to-school forum both done online and in person, for parents to raise questions, learn more about the upcoming school year, and hear announcements regarding new school initiatives and events–including, The Portfolio Assessment for Southville International School and Colleges Students (P.A.S.S.). It was held at their Luxembourg Campus, in Luxembourg “Lux” Hall, from 2 to 6 PM.
There, parents were oriented about the requirement dates for their respective child’s P.A.S.S., paper throughout the school year. The K-12 Basic Education Principal, Nessie Lumbres, spoke about the upcoming school year and gave encouraging words for both the parents and attending students. Beside her were the Basic Education Student Council President, Kim “Charis” Minyoung, and the Vice President, Kim “Martin” Kimoon, to continue Lumbres’ speech and discuss topics of future events, student protocol, and more.
Lumbres, when on the podium talking about the event stated: “It is a great chance to meet the wonderful parents of the students.” Then continued on talking about the school reminders.
Throughout the rest of the conference, each parent was ushered by a respective student council member and then brought to different areas depending on their child’s chosen strand, whether it be Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM), General Academic Strand (GAS), Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS), or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
In the last hours of the meeting, parents were given further information about P.A.S.S., such as the deadlines, a gaff chart P.A.S.S calendar, and a chance to see their child’s assigned P.A.S.S. adviser.
