High School holds energetic Mr. and Ms. Intramurals pageant

On April 16, 2024, Luxembourg Hall came alive with the spirited energy of Grade 7 to 10 students as they supported their representatives competing in the much-anticipated  Mr. and Ms. High School Intramurals. The student pageant was a non-athletic subevent of the Olympic Revival: High School Intramurals 2024, and it was organized by Sir Angelou Langga of the Special Subjects Department.

The event commenced with a lively opening musical performance by the band Block 10 consisting of Izahr Yusop, Tyrone Nebiar, Kim Siyoun, Yuta Iwai, and Angel Teng. The candidates were then revealed during their opening dance production, showcasing the intricate stage setup crafted by biology teacher Sir McDaryl Pedro.

Representing their respective batches with pride were Grade 7’s Nathalie Teoh and Daniel Eem for the House of Artemis, Grade 8’s Shakira Lang and Georges Mhanna for the House of Athena, Grade 9’s Hosanna Valdez and Jacob Santos for the House of Hephaestus, and Grade 10’s Nicole Sultan and Prince Kang for the House of Zeus.

Leading the program were the hosts Minami Oikawa and Matthew Mariano, and they were complemented by River Ypon’s voiceover. Additionally, the event was on live stream, which allowed online participants to engage through the live chat acknowledged by the hosts.

Following an intermission performance by the band Eversince—featuring Gabrielle Hermosilla, Cassie Prats, Amrita Dash, and Abigail Benitez—the Divine Elegance Competition began. The contestants gracefully showcased their Greek-inspired costumes on stage as the audience filled the hall with cheers and applause as their representatives took center stage.

Neil Castro and Harmony Lane then took the stage for another musical performance, keeping the audience enthralled as they awaited the next competition. Soon after, the Sports Attire Competition commenced. The House of Artemis appeared in equestrian attire, the House of Athena in boxing attire, the House of Hephaestus in racing attire, and the House of Zeus in archery attire. Each sport was chosen by their respective level coordinators.

As anticipation filled the hall, Seraphims delivered an entertaining vocal performance, intensifying the excitement for the eagerly awaited announcement of competition results. Resounding cheers erupted from the audience as the winners were revealed.

Both of the House of Athena representatives, Georges Mhanna and Shakira Lang, were awarded the Mr. and Ms. Photogenic titles, while Jacob Santos from the House of Hephaestus and Nathalie Teoh from the House of Artemis received the Male and Female People’s Choice Award. The two representatives of the House of Hephaestus—Jacob Santos and Hosanna Valdez—claimed the titles of Male and Female Best in Production, and Prince Kang from the House of Zeus and Shakira Lang from the House of Athena were honored as the Male and Female Best in Divine Elegance and Best in Sports Attire.

Daniel Eem and Nathalie Teoh, both from the House of Artemis, secured the titles of Male and Female 3rd runners-up, with Georges Mhanna from the House of Athena and Hosanna Valdez from the House of Hephaestus as the Male and Female 2nd runners-up. Jacob Santos from the House of Hephaestus and Nicole Sultan from the House of Zeus were awarded the titles of Male and Female 1st runners-up. Finally, Prince Kang from the House of Zeus and Shakira Lang from the House of Athena were officially crowned Mr. and Ms. High School Intramurals 2024.

With the atmosphere filled with excitement and energy, the event drew to a close, capping off a successful school intramural pageant.
