As we finally enter the year 2021, I would like to share with you the importance of setting your goals. Some people think that planning for the future is tedious and irrelevant because of the experiences of losing track and then they stop doing it just after three or more days. This can especially be seen when people create then immediately forget their New Year’s resolutions. However, that can be stopped once you put the right amount of focus and motivation into it.
So, how exactly do you achieve your goals and make your future successful? The following four tips below will help you be a more valuable person that sets goals, plans for them, and lives for their dreams.
1. Set Your Priorities Straight
The most important thing when planning for the New Year is to prioritize which goals are more important than others. Write down in a notebook or save on your phone what is something significant or essential you want to achieve this 2021, then constantly make it the most urgent task. If what your planning turns out to be is a low-priority goal, you may just want to throw it away for now. Instead, you have to plan around what is high-priority so you can get one step closer to your goals.
2. Make it Specific
In achieving your goals, specific, concrete plans are more effective than vague, abstract plans. Even if what you think of seems cool and irreplaceable in your opinion, planning with as much detail as possible will bring in goals that are more tangible. If it is not specific, you will lose your way in a directionless path.
3. Allot a Fixed Number of Goals
One common mistake of people who can't stick to their plans is that they set both too big and too many goals for them. While yes, having goals are a driving force in life, having an overwhelming number of goals can be poisonous for your mental health. If there are too many things you want to achieve, it will cause you to give up quickly after a while. It is not only helpful but essential you set an amount of goals that are reasonable enough to achieve.
4. Use Your Spare Time
If you use your spare time, you can always try new things. If your goals involve reading and language studies, spend your spare time on practicing or studying. Don’t just use your free hours laying down on bed all day. When planning to do your goals during your spare time, it's good to check whether you can do what it takes to achieve them every day.
Please remember that you can’t do everything you want to achieve in 24 hours. If you don't want your plan to fail after three days again this new year, don't forget that a focused mind is the most important thing!
