Money Talks - Introduction

Did you know you can earn money as a student?

You can! It’s a huge misconception that you can’t earn just because you aren’t 18. Although you may not be able to make as much as you would if you were an adult, money is money and it’s never too late to start investing in your financial future. Here’s a list of 5 things you can do to earn money while studying.

  1. Sell online! (My personal favorite) You don’t need to be a pro to start doing this; anyone with a gadget and an internet connection can! There are six main things that you need to consider 一 product, target market, pricing, shipping, and marketing. You don’t need to start a full on brand/business. You can just spend some of your free time looking for products to sell and resell them to your local community or village.

  2. Learn a profitable skill 一 then offer your services You may be saying to yourself, “I can’t work online because I don’t have any profitable skills.” But we are all in quarantine and as minors,we can’t go out. Why not pick up a new skill or hobby? By spending 1-2 hours a day learning a profitable skill, you can already start offering your services after a few weeks through multiple online platforms and freelancing or commissioning forums.

  3. Make an Ebook (It’s not as hard as you think; GRASPS is more difficult) All you need to create an Ebook is the ability to type and search on Google. Know how to use Canva, and plan a time to do it. Pick a topic that you're interested in and start writing! If you don’t know what an Ebook is supposed to look like, search for a sample online and use it as your reference. Then you can type, type, type away!

  4. Create content online (You don’t even have to include your face!) Whether it's through Tik Tok videos, YouTube videos, or any other type of content across different social media platforms, creating content online can be made profitable! One of the ways is through Google AdSense or through the Tik Tok Creator Fund which usually only applies to bigger creators. If you’re an artist or a writer, consider getting a Ko-Fi for tips. That being said, you can also start earning even with just a small platform!

  5. Affiliate Marketing Woah, what’s that? Basically, businesses pay you to get them customers. How can you do that? When you create content online, you can promote the products of businesses, and then the business will pay you a commission for each purchase made from someone who discovered them through your content. You can do this regardless of the number of followers you have.

These are just five of the many, many ways students can make money online. Want to know more? Keep an eye out for more business guides for students in the future!
