School Spirit Week 2022 Recap

Last October 17, the Basic Ed Student Council, in collaboration with the IB Student Council and several student-led clubs, launched the first face-to-face School Spirit Week since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

With the theme of “Rendering Reunion through Recreation,” the 2022 school pride celebration included recreational activities for both HyVOLT and VOLT students, alongside multiple mufti days in commemoration of SISC’s 32nd Foundation Anniversary.

An onsite School Spirit Week 2022 arrived after two entirely online celebrations in the midst of COVID-19 quarantine restrictions, hosted by the Student Council and a coalition of student-led clubs respectively. Previous Spirit Weeks were traditionally headed by the Student Council of the time.

HyVOLT activities

The celebration set off with a SISC-themed mufti day. The week’s first day had students dress up in Southville’s school colors: red, green, and purple.

On the second and third days of Spirit Week, the Student Councils set up seven activity booths around the Luxembourg Hall grounds: Marriage Booth, Jail Booth, Cup Pong, Board Games, Photobooth, Shoot Ur Shot, and Switch it Up. These activities were accessible to onsite students during their break periods and dismissal.

Friends and couples lined up for the Marriage Booth that allowed for mock matrimony ceremonies between Monarchs. It was one of the most well-participated booths, especially for junior high school students. Another booth that attracted a number of students was the Jail Booth, where participants were trapped in a cell and showered with water at the insistence of their peers.

The following day concluded the onsite festivities with a Halloween-themed mufti day. Students costumed themselves after various characters, such as Gru’s Minions, Men in Black agents, witches, vampires, and other recognizable personalities.

VOLT activities

The Student Councils and student-led clubs also prepared numerous activities for the students who could only attend schooling online. At the start of the week, a friendly creative competition to design a logo for the SISC Student Council of this academic year was held.

Interactive Instagram stories such as Bingo, This or That, and stories that included the new Add Yours IG feature were posted throughout the week. The stories delved into relatable school-related topics, such as Monarchs’ favorite places around the campus, subjects, events, and food stalls, as well as how they prefer their ID worn.

To close off the week, the Student Council used the Add Yours feature for the “Tap in if you’re a Monarch!” activity. A great number of students as well as teachers uploaded photos of themselves at the campus or selfies with their classmates and co-teachers as proud Monarchs.
