During a bustling Tuesday on December 12, 2023, Southville’s Accounting, Business, and Management (ABM) strand held its annual Holiday Bazaar. ABM students set up 12 of the 13 booths that sold homemade products in the Luxembourg Hall.
Different students of various levels enjoyed the student-organized booths during their breaks. Part of the proceeds were donated to the school’s Poor Urban Child (PoUCh) program.
10 out of the 13 booths sold food-related products. These booths were El Nacho Dorado, El Tacho, Mango Munch, Mini Munchers, Southfizz, Sugar Bites, Sweet Mini Bites, Sweet Palette, and Waffa Tropica. Save The Children - SISC also participated by hosting a bake sale.
From posters to Instagram accounts, the students got creative with their names and promotions. Glimpses of the products were released on social media before D-day. On the day itself, booth members wore their signature mascots and costumes to attract more customers.
Many booths sold food on the sweeter side and some businesses even had similar products. El Nacho Dorado and El Tacho sold nachos which were both favored. Mango Munch and Mini Munchers both sold mango sago.
The bazaar wasn’t just about food. Two booths sold miscellaneous items while another featured a carnival-inspired basketball game. 2World, the basketball booth, offered students a chance to win jerseys and jackets if they were able to make a certain number of shots. The miscellaneous booths were Bear’s Box, which sold crocheted accessories, and Build-A-Brick, which sold customizable Lego minifigures.
As a final touch, filling up the stage of Luxembourg Hall was an art exhibit by the Grade 11 Art Elective students with the theme “Art and Spaces.” The artworks on display were the final performance assessments of these students and were for sale to anyone interested.
Running from 8 AM to 3 PM, all participating students made the most out of their day with their innovative ideas and quality products. Those who supported these said booths had a hand in working towards a better cause, whether they knew it or not. With students enjoying the bazaar and all it had to offer, the Holiday Bazaar was an overall success.
