Spellbound by Writing: To Cast a Writer’s Heart On

Even if captivated by a spell, being competent in writing isn’t as easy as a keyboard or a pen would do. Times where a bunch of intriguing ideas flow through your body, but your brain rejects most. This tends to happen with beginning writers; they get the hint of indecisiveness in what to even write. Not to mention the pressure, shivers, sweat, and unsettling comfort in their seat they tend to experience.

Therefore, trust me when I say that even I, as a long-coming writer, have my days where I can’t write a single word. What more to expect for a beginning writer like you? I understand what you feel because I’ve been there. I was just like you, thus this article is mainly to help you get some confidence and inspiration. Now going back to the “I can’t write a single word on some days” part, what I’m trying to connect is that a certain event in your mind happens called “writer’s mental block.” And just a quick little tip, writer's block is a phenomenon experienced by all kinds of writers. Whether they are veterans or rookies, no one is spared of this event. It is best described as an overwhelming feeling of being stuck or paused in the writing process without the ability to move forward and write anything exquisite. I am spiteful of this when I just want to turn a blank page into an eye-opener.

Especially when you’ve seen other old writers write about anything and everything possible to publish, half of the time you wouldn’t even know what to draft that hasn’t been published yet. So how can one even really write? Besides the fact that we have been educated in making letters, essays are important. Whether it’d be for business or personal reasons, to write anything that would be professional, sweet, grammatically correct, etc. takes up a grand amount of focus and genuine interest. These things are for people who can already call themselves a writer. And don’t forget the basic stages of writing we’ve been taught in English class too: prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing. All writers remember this by heart, so you shall too if you wanna get in the movement.

Plus if you think about it, anyone can lift a pen or purchase a keyboard to write. But not everyone has that same passion for writing because some may find it boring and repetitive. Therefore, they can’t really sum up their ideas through ink on paper or typed words on a computer. But for those who have the most adoring gaze in writing, they write so easily. It’s like words just come out like pouring rain. This is all just about real attraction or interest in writing since we first need to be amused by it like how attraction is the first thing you notice in a person or how you like the aura of a particular color. It all goes the same for writing. Call it the prewriting stage. Now onto the next or second aspect of writing: the drafting. This is the process in which you create a rough draft that will later be improved. Organizing your thoughts into sentences and if needed, into paragraphs. Like I’ve said before if the attraction is the first “pull” in writing, the next thing is the courage or “push” in which ideas, schemes, proposals are crucial in this aspect. And then in a little while, you’ll realize you’re already hooked and ready to write more. And as soon as you’ve completed the following, the third aspect of writing comes with revising; reviewing or changing either word choice or any grammatical error to make it much more descriptive, impressive, etc. For me, this is the “last chance” to show what you’ve got or to “wow” oneself. Much confidence shall be applied upon this aspect.

And now that I’ve shared with you the first three aspects of writing, I’d like to wow you myself on the closing aspects of it. This is the fourth and fifth/final feature commonly known as the edit then publish phase. To be very honest, I just call this the “cold feet hour,” and why do I call it that? Because I know writing can be done by anyone. After all, even with the indifference of passion, elements like pull, push, and wow factor can be titled as nothing or worthless if you don’t have a dazzling outcome. But more importantly, “cold feet hour” determines it all. The absolute final thought of your paper, and the checking of sense about it. Thus I assure you, the finale of your writing journey and the last period mark of your paper will absolutely just give you the purest smile and boost. And at that moment, remember I am so proud of you for completing your best paper ever. Cheers, aspirant!
