Study Methods To Use Before Examinations

There’s nothing more stressful than studying for exams. Finals are coming up soon and we can all agree that we want to achieve a high grade for this term and the following terms. Have you ever experienced a “What’s this?” and “How to do this?” moment during an examination? I’m pretty sure all of us have experienced that at some point.

Being well-prepared for a test is essential and can greatly improve your chances of earning a higher grade. Some of us have probably waited until the last minute to study for a test. To have fruitful results in our upcoming and future exams, let's look into the various study methods that will be handy in your preparation.

Study in Advance

As cliche as it sounds, studying in advance is really helpful when it comes to preparing for exams. It gives you more time to master topics/lessons, especially ones that you have a hard time in. You would then have more opportunities to do other obligations that need to be accomplished and more time to do other things you want to do.

Creating a schedule will be a big help to you! You’ll be able to systemize and allot the time needed for each subject and/or topic. Personally, the first subject I study before exams is the one I have the most difficulty with. This is because I need more time to fully understand and master the topics.

Watch Reliable Educational Videos

Watching reliable educational videos is beneficial, especially if you are a visual learner. This method allows you to learn at your own pace and is helpful when it comes to making reviewers for exams. If you tend to forget your lessons after some time, this method can also be used as a refresher.

Not to mention, educational videos are more accessible nowadays with the help of the internet. Reliable Youtube channels that I recommend watching are Khan Academy, Ted-Ed, The Organic Chemistry Tutor, and Crash Course.

Use the Blurting Method

The blurting method is an active recall method wherein you write down as much information as you can remember from the topics that you are reviewing. You will then review and write down what you forgot and what you got wrong. Doing this continuously until all the information you need to know has been written is helpful for memorization.

It's essential to maintain your calm and a tranquil environment to stay in when it comes to easing your mind before the examinations. I hope that these study methods helped you in preparation for your examinations. I wish you all the best of luck in the upcoming exams!
