Basic Ed unveils AY 2024-2025 Student Council

On the morning of May 15, 2024, Monarchs cast their votes for their desired Student Council candidate inside their respective classrooms. The voting procedure was done through a Google Form from 7:45-8:20. After 8 hours of waiting, the SELEC Committee announced the election results via the school PA system. 


The MAX Party earned a sweeping victory in the 2024 Basic Ed Student Council Elections, winning nine of the 11 electable positions. Its counterpart, the MILES Party, and independent candidate Eunsong “Melody” Choi each won a seat in the new student government. 


Out of the 792 Grade 7 to 11 students in Luxembourg Campus, 691 students were able to cast their votes, making up 87% of the student population.  


The Big Four 

Min Young “Charis” Kim was elected as Student Council President with 510 votes. She won alongside her running mate, Kimoon “Martin” Kim, who gained 512 votes as Vice President. José Lorenzo “Jorenz” Buendia of the MILES Party received 109 votes while his running mate, Kirsten Zoe Gabrielle Tulod, received 103. 


Juyoung “Ana” Lee gained most of the favor of the Basic Ed as she gained the votes of 411 students for Treasurer. Daniel Baniqued of the MILES Party received 119 votes, while independent candidate Noah Joudeh received 85 votes. 


For Secretary, Joshua Levi Santos of the MAX Party garnered 367 votes, managing to surpass Don Enrique “King” Padilla of the MILES Party who came in second with 218 votes, and independent candidate Yun Seon “Julie” Cho who had 60 votes.


Batch Representatives

Out of all the 125 students in Grade 7 voters, 96 students gave their vote to Vienne Alex Silangan from the MAX Party for their future Grade 8 Batch Representative. Raj Arnav from the MILES Party managed to receive 16 votes. 


Sua Jin from the MAX Party managed to gain 76 out of 124 Grade 8 votes as the future Grade 9 Batch Representative.  Her opponent, Julianne Nido from the MILES Party, received 40 votes. 


For the Grade 10 Batch Representative, Seulbi Lee of the MAX Party gained 60 votes out of the total 135 students in Grade 9, going ahead of independent candidate Alarice Laraño with 48 votes and the MILES Party’s Chaeho Song who finished with 22 votes. 


Strand Representatives

Czea Margaret “Maggie” Lim from the MILES Party managed to gain 18 votes from the Grade 11 ABM students, winning as ABM Strand Representative over Sean Rodriguez from the MAX Party who finished with 12 votes.


With only a one-vote difference, independent candidate Eunsong “Melody” Choi, won as GAS Strand Representative with eight votes over against Jihyeon “Sarah” Huh from the MAX Party with seven votes. 


Among the 34 Grade 11 HUMSS students, 19 voted for Boris Principe from the MAX Party while 15 went for River Ypon of the MILES Party, allowing the former to be elected as the HUMSS Strand Representative. 


The 42 votes for Vince Santos from the MAX Party paved the way for his victory as STEM Strand Representative. Sophia Helena Carprio of the MILES Party managed to gain 24 STEM students’ votes.


The newly-elected candidates are set to have their oath-taking and inauguration, and their main duties as Student Council officers will begin at the start of AY 2024-2025.
