Bazaar Brilliance: Mango Munch and South Fizz's Behind the Scenes of Success

There’s nothing sweeter than having a holiday bazaar filled with food, drinks, and little trinkets open for the students of Southville International School And Colleges. The 2023 Holiday Bazaar last December 12 was held by the amazing business-minded students of ABM. Ending the day with delicious and refreshing treats put smiles on the students’ faces.

Mangoes, the epitome of sweet, tangy, yummy goodness of the Philippines took the center stage at ABM’s Mango Munch booth that was held at the Luxembourg Hall. This booth vibrantly displayed Mango sago, one of the country’s most famous desserts,  by incorporating the mangoes into a pudding mix, adding a distinctive and delectable twist to this iconic treat.

Mango Sago is a well-known Filipino dessert, which gave the perfect idea to infuse Filipino traditions and traits into the booth’s overall concept.

“Our booth’s concept is Filipino-themed, based on how the Philippines is known for its mangoes. So, this can be seen especially in the banana leaves that were laid out on the table. Creating a ‘boodle fight’ effect, said by one of Mango Munch’s entrepreneurs, Alliah Mendoza, from 12-Service.

The Mango Sago was a complete hit—they achieved their goal by selling out! However, their success wasn’t without a few setbacks. When asked about the biggest challenge they faced, it was revealed that it stemmed from the lack of supplies and products throughout the entire day-long event. However, this little hiccup in the road didn't stop them. If anything, it only taught them how to prepare for the next time.

“By increasing the supplies next time since there’s a lot of demand, we would be able to cater more customers and consumers who would want to buy and try our Mango Pudding Sago, stated by Francine Cruz, one of the members of Mango Munch.

Navigating through the lively ABM bazaar, the refreshments infused with fresh mint and lime was the perfect way to end your day. Positioned as the go-to place to quench your thirst, South Fizz stood out from the rest, aligning perfectly with the booth's primary objective.

We wanted to stand out, noticed none of our competitors sold any drinks and we ran with the idea, said Trillian Galicia from 11-Persistence.

Simple and familiar was the look the booth was going for. They wanted it to look like just a regular juice stand you’d see outside of school—a stand that exudes a sense of warmth and happiness.

The biggest lesson that South Fizz has learned from their experience was to “always come prepared and with spare change.”  One aspect that stood out to me as a customer of South Fizz was their efficient and fast-paced work. The drinks that they sold were made at a reasonable pace, and it was clear to me that they genuinely wanted to cater to their customers’  demands.

The bazaar was the highlight of many students’ week, including myself. The different booths, such as Mango Munch and South Fizz were able to satisfy their customers and have them leave the Luxembourg Hall with smiles and happy stomachs. The Holiday Bazaar became something for sure that we looked forward to and they didn’t fail to disappoint. Thanks to the ABM students, the bazaar went to be a major success.
