On December 12, 2023, the SISC Save the Children Club (STC-SISC) launched its Christmas Bake Sale in the Luxembourg Hall coinciding with the ABM Christmas Bazaar. Alongside sponsored bakeries offering Korean pastries and baked goods, student members of the organization contributed by providing information to raise awareness about Save the Children’s mission.

Bonhyeon Koo (Rich), the president of STC-SISC, reflected on the club's efforts during the special bake sale. The event aimed to support the club’s mission of providing educational materials and everyday necessities for children in need. Rich emphasized the significance of the  bake sale, stating, “Every child deserves a brighter future.”

He highlighted the disparity faced by children lacking support and expressed determination to provide them with opportunities. He added, “The holiday season is a time of great joy, and people come together to celebrate. Although we have the opportunity to enjoy the festive atmosphere, some children with a lack of support need to be cared for.”

The focus of their effort was combating hunger, recognizing it as a critical issue affecting many children. Rich commended the vibrant and enthusiastic ambassadors of STC-SISC, whose contributions were instrumental in organizing the bake sale. He stated, “With the ambassadors' help, we were able to organize a booth, secure sponsors, and engage their community.”

Moreover, he also praised the strong spirit of generosity within the Southville community, as Monarchs generously supported the organization’s mission.

Despite facing various challenges, the teamwork and initiative of club members enabled them to overcome obstacles and ensure the event’s success. Rich emphasized that the bake sale’s success was a testament to the overwhelming response from the Southville community and the tangible impact they made. He highlighted the joy and enthusiasm of volunteers and the willingness of Monarchs to contribute, making the event more than just a fundraiser but a celebration of community spirit and positive change.

Overall, the bake sale underscored the significant impact of community-driven initiatives for children in need, reaffirming Rich’s dedication to this meaningful work.
