On Friday afternoon, September 29, parents, teachers, and students gathered at the Luxembourg Hall of SISC for the Senior High School Coffee Chat for Grade 11.
This event, hosted by Kimoon “Martin” Kim and Min Young “Charis” Kim, was not just an opportunity for parents to get insights into their children's academic journeys, but also a celebration of the school's remarkable achievements and initiatives. The event kicked off around 2:00 p.m., with parents eagerly filling the venue since 1 p.m. One of the highlights of the day was the awards presentation led by the Basic Ed and IB Principal. Southville High School took pride in recognizing 281 outstanding students who excelled in various areas, from the Higher IB Point system scores to exceptional grades in the core subjects.
The school also earned the coveted the "Most Outstanding School Award" for its commitment to academic excellence and student development. Additionally, the school boasted an impressive record of high acceptance rates to universities both locally and internationally.
Dazzling Dance Performance
At 2:35 p.m., the atmosphere was electrified as the school's dance club, known as Relevé, took the stage with a stunning dance performance of the song “Super Shy.” Their energy and talent left the audience in awe, showcasing the vibrant extracurricular activities available to students at SISC.
Sir Joseph Wong, the level counselor for Grade 11, took the stage after the intermission to share valuable advice about college preparation. He addressed crucial factors such as choosing the right location, assessing one's capabilities, managing financial status, and dealing with logistical concerns. His insights provided parents and students with a clearer understanding of the path ahead.
Engaging Intermission
Following Sir Joseph Wong's speech, the Vivace Music Club, the official music org of SISC, entertained the audience with their captivating rendition of “Tell my Mama" by Lauv which kept the spirits high and the energy buzzing.

The event took a turn towards showcasing the school's initiatives. Ms. Jan Gutierrez took the stage as she presented a video highlighting one of Southville High School's innovative initiatives, IXL which is an online education platform offering interactive learning content in English and Math. This initiative underscores the school's commitment to providing students with cutting-edge tools for academic success.
Private Sessions: A Personal Touch
Afterward, parents had the opportunity to connect with teachers during private sessions. In these sessions, teachers presented the first term class schedules and discussed upcoming events for the rest of the term. Each student received a personalized sheet pertaining to their performance, allowing parents to gain insights into their child's progress.
