Last February 26, the high school students of SISC took center stage at the open house singing competition Salamat Musika: Tinig ng Lahi, held as part of the celebrations for the 5Cs Month. This event, under the theme “Igniting 5Cs through the fusion of language, culture, and the arts,” was an ode to Filipino heritage and musical prowess.
Spearheaded by the Filipino subject teachers along with the special subject teachers, the competition served as a platform to celebrate Filipino heritage and musical talent. The day kicked off with the Filipino and Special Subject Teachers greeting visitors, which included parents and students, setting a festive mood for a day dedicated to cultural appreciation and showcasing talents. The program began with the SGEN Prayer and the Philippine National Anthem, creating a solemn atmosphere under the guidance of the teacher hosts.
The school’s principal, Ms. Marie Vic Suarez, formally opened the program with an inspiring speech about unity and encouragement. Sir. Joseph meticulously outlined the event’s rules, judging criteria, and guidelines, a fair and transparent competition. A distinguished panel of judges, featuring Sir. Thirdy Caraan, Sir. Jommel Butial, Sir. Mikael Robrigado, Sir. Samuel Raiz, and Ms. Maria Gisella Galisanao, lent their expertise, setting a high bar for the competition. The Pledge of Healthy Competition, led by Sir. Dominador Jimbo Caraan IV, fostered a spirit of positivity among the participants.
Participants showcased their talent in two exhilarating halves, each performance reflecting the rich tapestry of Filipino music and culture. In a touching conclusion, all performers were invited for a final bow led by Sir Joseph, Ms. Precious, Management, and the judges, acknowledging the success of the event.
The highlight of the event was the announcement of the winners. Hannah Grace Nixon of 11-Industry (HUMSS) emerged as the champion with her rendition of “Isa Pang Araw” by Sarah Geronimo, while Gabrielle Hermosilla of 9-Compassion secured the 1st runner-up position. Cassiana Kassandra Prats and Rhona Abigail Benitez of 9-Sincerity clinched the title of 2nd runner-up, captivating the audience with their performances.
The event concluded with a photo session that captured the spirit of unity and achievement among participants, judges, and organizers. Ms. Precious formally closed the program, expressing gratitude to all participants and attendees for their enthusiasm and support. Salamat Musika: Tinig ng Lahi not only celebrated Filipino talent but also showcased the vibrant spirit of the SISC community leaving attendees with lasting memories of a day filled with music, culture, and a celebration of Filipino heritage.
