Refreshing yourself-being from school

Once again, exam week is just around the corner. What makes it more exciting or nerve-wracking is that it's the last exam of the academic year. It's quite fascinating to see how swift time goes by as we are concluding another successful school year. That being said, I’d like to ask, are you overwhelmed or stressed with the pile of requirements and term test reviews? To have a relaxable and worry-less summer, we must finish the requirements that we were given. This is our last shot to exert our effort in the academic year. As much as we are motivated towards accomplishing academic requirements, we tend to feel drained afterward.

As a student, I somewhat feel the pressure from the year-end requirements and reviews for the upcoming finals. I’ve always tried my best to stay focused and set time for the designated tasks. I’m sure we can all relate, it's quite difficult to manage our time or even remain productive. But, to cope with stress I value study breaks; at least 5 minutes. I always seek time to have a break to freshen myself from work. In these minutes, I can do numerous things to relieve and to re-energize. Furthermore, I want to share 3 ways we can freshen ourselves during our study breaks. I know you have your own ways to take care of yourself, but here is some advice that we can benefit for the upcoming days ahead.

A quick snack

Our brain cannot easily be energized and focused with an empty stomach. In our daily life, our body nutrition plays a big role in boosting our productivity. A balanced and healthy diet benefits the way our brains function. When we are doing school work and you feel that you need to eat something, go for it. During the hours of school and studying, it’s important to keep yourself full. Different types of food contain essential nutrients and vitamins that promote our performance in academics. We don’t want to be drowsy in a study session, that would result in little progress. For a few minutes, eat something that is quick and easy. A simple sandwich, your preferred biscuits, or even noodles for a more comforting break. Any food can be eaten as an interval from work. I would recommend eating snacks that are less on the “junkier” side. Remember our brain’s productivity differs from our diet.

Calming our senses with music

I know reviewing could be a hindrance for some and it is something we usually don’t spend a lot of time on. There is even a point in time that the numerous notes and practices made you feel so drained and frustrated with everything. We need something that can calm and relax our senses. Your answer is music. It has been proven by research that music helps us relieve stress. Music can affect you emotionally depending on what type of genre. Did you know that music can also ease our muscles as well? From any genre or your most favored songs, the freedom is yours to choose. The soothing melodies improve our motivation and the upbeat melodies rebuild our energy. Music is such a grateful form of art as it can help us through the day. It keeps you attentive and makes you feel more positive in life.

Distance from technology

Doing schoolwork is undeniably tiring. Since most of us are continuously in the online setup, our eyes tend to be strained or exhausted from long hours of looking at the screen. Sometimes when I do study breaks, I distance myself away from technology. We need to rest our eyes as well. Even if you are handling a school assignment or reviewing, it’s recommended that you take frequent screen breaks. We shouldn’t force ourselves to fully focus on studying continuously for hours. Doing so will only make us forget the things that we reviewed and gradually lose focus. Consider avoiding looking into our gadgets’ screens and further yourself from it. Go outside and look at the refreshing nature surrounding you. Do something that doesn’t need to involve technology. These habits are great ways to control our time with gadgets. We must bear in mind the 20-20-20 rule that is repeatedly taught in school for a sustained eye-sight and self.

To have a smooth and effective review, it’s always important to embed in ourselves that we need to balance our self-being and academics. I know in the upcoming days and even the past few days of school seem demanding and stressful. Nevertheless, we should never neglect to care for ourselves. After all, what matters the most is that we are all mentally and physically healthy and stable. I hope that these tips will be great advice for you. Good luck to all of you during the exam!
