On October 17, Grades 11 and 12 students filled the Monarchs Gym to compete and foster school pride through sportsmanship in the Faculty and Student Ball (Fastball) 2023.

The highly-anticipated mini sports tournament was presented by the Student Council alongside the Athletics Department as part of this year’s School Spirit Week.

Participants formed their own teams consisting of students from different strands and grade levels, along with a requirement of at least one faculty member on each team. This allowed both students and faculty members to come together and compete in volleyball, basketball, and football games, which are the school’s main sports.

Various student-teacher teams faced off in a series of thrilling matches, each following a bracket elimination format. Ultimately, the two most successful teams earned the chance to compete for the top spot in the championships.

Throughout the entirety of Fastball 2023, the gym was buzzing with energy and excitement as non-participating students attended to show their support and cheer for their competing classmates and friends.

In addition, the Student Council set up a booth offering a variety of refreshing beverages and snacks for both participating and non-participating students.

As a special highlight of the event, a volleyball match unfolded where the faculty members engaged in a friendly competition against the Athletics Department varsity coaches. The students gathered to witness the match, showing their support for their beloved teachers and coaches.

Last academic year, Fastball was wholly organized by the Athletics Department which held it on October 28, 2022 for senior high school, proceeding formal Spirit Week activities.
