Southville’s high school students celebrated School Spirit Week 2023 in four activity-filled days from October 16-19 in commemoration of the school’s 33rd foundation anniversary.
School and student organizations held onsite activities such as the Student Council and club booths and stalls, Fastball, the Start-Up Club Bazaar, Cinematics Club film screenings, and the Junior High School (JHS) Talent Night. Monarchs also created online activities via Instagram for VOLT students.
Day 1
Spirit Week 2023 kicked off with the Student Council initiating a mufti day for the senior high school (SHS) students with the theme of “SISC Colors.” Students could wear civilian clothes in purple, green, or red which are the school colors. The Monarch’s Mania, Photo, and Open Mic booths and stalls manned by the Student Council were opened. The Kindness Wall by the Kindness Project club members as well as the The Mover merchandise booth also started to operate.
Day 2
The second day of Spirit Week was solely dedicated to the Faculty and Student Ball (Fastball), where all the SHS students and teachers came together to play volleyball, basketball, and football. This year’s Fastball was presented by the Student Council, which also prepared a stall for snacks and refreshments. During the awarding ceremony, a performance was also showcased by the members of the Relevé Dance Club. Meanwhile, the Cinematics Club screened “La La Land” to mark the club's first day of film viewings.
Day 3
An art merchandise stall by the Art Society and an informational booth by Red Cross Youth opened up and enticed Monarchs during the third day. The Student Council reopened its infamous Jail Booth as well as its first Bake Sale. The Cinematics Club held its second and final day of community film viewings by screening the film “Coraline.” The Start-Up Club also launched its booths for its first bazaar, each one selling global products such as Mexican delicacies, native Thai snacks, and some handcrafted accessories.
Day 4
The conclusion of Spirit Week 2023 marked the final day of all the booths and stalls handled by the aforementioned organizations, as well as the dressing-up of the (SHS) students in their native or chosen country’s traditional costumes. For the JHS students, they held a Talent Night graced with popular media-themed performances watched by their parents along with the rest of the students and faculty.
